Gabriel Sundukyan National Academic Theatre

The National Academic Theater named after Gabriel Sundukyan was opened as the first state theater in 1922 with the staging of the play "Pepo" by Gabriel Sundukyan.
The original cast was from Tbilisi's "Search" theater. Of course, later the theater was filled with other actors. The first artistic director was Levon Kalantar. Shakespeare's performances were highly appreciated, which was the reason for holding a Shakespeare festival and conference in Yerevan in the Soviet Union.
The theater received an academic title in 1960.
Until now, the sculptural system of the theater, created by the famous Armenian sculptor Ara Harutyunyan, fascinates.
